Set in early-nineties Pittsburgh, the movie tells the story of Charlie ( Logan Lerman), an introverted, even depressive kid whose best friend committed suicide a few months earlier. He shows up yet again in **Stephen Chbosky’**s The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which turns out to be a pleasant surprise: It takes the same old song and finds heartfelt, original notes within it. It’s been more than six decades since The Catcher in the Rye introduced the world to Holden Caulfield (he’d now be 78!) and created a new type of pop hero-the brainy, sensitive, alienated teenager.
